If you have searched for WhatsApp tools in Malaysia, you have almost certainly seen WATI. It is a well-known platform, and for some businesses it is the right pick.

This post explains the difference in plain terms, using WATI’s own public pricing page (checked 6 October 2026). Features and prices change, so always confirm on their site before deciding.

What WATI is built for

From its pricing page, WATI is a WhatsApp Business API platform with a strong focus on campaigns, team inbox and automation. Highlights it lists include:

• Official WhatsApp API setup, with blue-tick verification help.
• Broadcast campaigns, Click-to-WhatsApp ad lead capture, and e-commerce tools such as Shopify abandoned-cart templates.
• A shared team inbox with assignment, tags, follow-ups and reports, plus Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and web widget channels.
• A no-code chatbot and flow builder, with a monthly allowance of “automation triggers”.
• “Astra” AI agents for web, WhatsApp and voice, listed as an add-on priced separately on the Pro plan.

Plans are named Growth, Pro and Business, and the page notes that WhatsApp message charges are added on top, based on WATI’s rate card. WATI says it serves 16,000+ customers.

If your main job is sending campaigns at scale and giving several agents one inbox, that toolset is designed for you.

What ThinkChat is built for

ThinkChat starts from a different question: who answers the customer when your team can’t?

WATI’s pricing FAQ says that to use an existing WhatsApp number you must first delete the WhatsApp account linked to it, and that chat backups can’t be imported. The same page also advertises a newer option to sync the WhatsApp Business App with WATI. Ask them which applies to you. Whichever vendor you pick, ThinkChat included, ask how your number moves, what happens to history, and how Meta’s per-message charges are billed. Meta began charging for service replies on 1 October 2026, so this matters more than it used to (see our 24-hour window glossary).

Which should you choose?

• Choose a platform like WATI if you run frequent broadcasts, have several staff working one inbox all day, and want deep marketing and Shopify tooling.
• Choose ThinkChat if your bottleneck is answering: missed after-hours messages, repeated questions, bookings, and you want an AI that admits gaps and passes tricky chats to a person.

Some businesses use a marketing platform for campaigns and an AI employee for answering. That’s fine. Just be clear which job each one is doing.
